Hi all,
I am a 29 year old Australian female who is VERY new to York after moving here just under 2 weeks ago. My partner is English and he has just started university here.
I am a nurse, but am currenlty unable to work due to my visa. Therefore, I am finding it hard to find friends of my age group. My partner has lots of soical events run through the uni, but I am a bit past the uni days and am looking for some of my own friends. I don't really fancy the 18 year old partying till you drop thing....it is just not me anymore!
I am more of a casual pub girl these days. I like to check out cool little pubs or a bit of live music/entertainment over a beer/wine or two. I am not into wearing ridculously high heels and next to nothing and dancing until 5am. Firstly....I am Australian, therefore I can't handle the cold. Secondly, I can barely walk 10metres without falling over as it is, let alone in 10inch stilletos (Apparently it is an Aussie thing to slip on almost everything over here....glad to know I am not alone).
I must say it has been quite an isolating start to my new life over here, but am hoping to find some like minded people a bit closer to my age group. I am a little shy to start off with, but after a beer or two I will be chattering away.
Look forward to hearing back from you!
