Demon Diary Manga Books 1-6 (£16)
Book1:
Raenef is the black sheep of the demon court, with minimal knowledge of magic and courtly etiquette. In order to help him claim his birthright as a demon lord, the gods send him the wise and noble demon teacher Eclipse to be his tutor. As Raenef and Eclipse begin their journey of discovery, they find that the bonds of friendship are stronger than the teacher/student relationship. This volume also includes two bonus stories: 'Crystal Heart' and 'Terra'.
Book 2:
After failing his tutor, Eclipse, and sparing the life of an enemy (very un-demonlike!), young Raenef decides to leave his homeland alone until he's become a demon lord. But life in the big world isn't easy for an unskilled demon. There are many who hate demons and would kill Raenef on sight. When Raenef stumbles into the temple of Rased, he meets someone who would love to do just that. Fortunately, Raenef isn't the only one still in training.
Book 3:
Eclipse reminisces about the past...Raenef's guild leader was captured by the city guards. Raenef was about to be killed by one of the guards because Raenef. Eclipse was watching from afar and noted that either Raenef would die if he was mortal or Raenef would live because he was a demon lord. The guard was about to strike Raenef with a sword but, all of a sudden, his forearm exploded off his body. This proved to Eclipse that Raenef was truly a demon lord; for Raenef's demon lord powers had exploded the guards arms (although Raenef had no idea that he had done that). Eclipse appeared before the guards and Raenef, and had the guild members released. Eclipse told Raenef that he is a demon lord and that Raenef should go with him. Raenef agreed because there would be plenty of food and because he would never have to steal again. A sage informed the feudal lord (Leeche's father) that he needs to send a bride to the demon lord (Raenef), to appease his wrath (the demon lord being displeased had scorched the lord's land). Leeche goes to Raenef's castle, in place of the bride to be sacrificed, to kill the demon lord who had killed her mother.
Book 4:
Demonic help is hard to find. As a Demon Lord-in-training, young Raenef still has a long way to go. He's sweet, he's gentle, he's caring...and he's widely regarded as unworthy of his servant/tutor, Eclipse. In a bid to steal Eclipse from Raenef, the Demon Lord Krayon - one of the five oldest demons in existence - puts Raenef to the test. If Raenef passes, he can keep Eclipse. If Raenef fails, he could lose his life!
Book 5:
Eclipse, Erutis and Chris find out that Granvirias, the Book, transformed Raenef into the evil Raenef. The Book refuses to return Raenef to his original self. Raenef IV commands Granvirias to change back Raenef V. Raenef V refuses to be changed back into the dim-witted Raenef. Raenef IV and Raenef V meet each other. Raenef V is surprised to see Raenef IV, whom he thought had died. While Raenef IV tells Raenef V that it isn't time for him to awake, Granvirias changes Raenef V back to his original self. Raenef IV leaves a sleeping Raenef V, after he burns up Granvirias. The next morning Raenef V greets everyone like nothing happened. He cannot remember anything that occurred during the previous days. Chris and Raenef discover Raenef IV's room. Eventually, Eclipse joins them, and tells them about Raenef IV. Raenef IV was very smart, but not very magically powerful. So, he devised a way of maximizing his low magical powers. He memorized the incantations for many magical powers, and even developed his own magical powers through incantation. Therefore, Raenef IV was more powerful than even the oldest Demon Lords. Then Raenef asked Eclipse why Raenef IV died so quickly.
Demon Lords are expected to live thousands of years, especially when they are so powerful. Eclipse told Raenef that approximately 150 years ago, Raenef IV used his mighty powers to kill many of the beings of heaven during the Hangma War. Because the beings of heaven could not overcome Raenef IV's might, they cursed him and thus he died. Raenef IV visits Meruhesae, and explains that the beings of heaven placed a curse on his name. A curse that would eventually obliterate all future Raenef Demon Lords from existence. Raenef IV warns Meruhesae (and all other demons) not to interfere, no matter what occurs at the Raenef Demon Lord castle. Chris confesses that he considers Raenef V to be his friend even though he is a Demon Lord. However, if and when Raenef V should become evil, Chris will be there to confront and stop him. Raenef V tells Chris that he will become a nice Demon Lord so he can keep Chris as a friend. The appointed time for the curse to happen arrives. The original beings from heaven who cursed Raenef IV arrive, and struck Raenef V with the curse. In the meantime, Raenef IV has arrived at the castle, and reveals himself to Eclipse. Raenef IV explains the curse to Eclipse.
Raenef V turns into evil Raenef V who is obviously more aware of the situation than the nice Raenef V. Raenef IV tells Chris to attack Raenef V, if he wants to save the nice Raenef V's life.
Book 6:
Raenef, the Demon Lord in training, faces an attack by his friend Chris, the future High Cleric of Rased, that leads to a confrontation with his predecessor, the fourth Demon Lord Raenef.
